Vision
send. plant. multiply.
General:
Our personal vision matches Kontaktmissions’, “Churches for a generation without Christ”. This truly describes the situation in Europe and the work of KM. Europe and especially Germany needs Christ, read more about this in our Germany page. The most effective way to reach people is through church planting. Bringing God’s Word to God’s people is at the heart of this but does not end there! New believers need the strong Biblical support structure of a Church. It’s about making the Matthew 28:19 passage a reality.
KM’s strategy for church planting is “send. plant. multiply.” It’s as simple as it sounds. Kontaktmission sends new workers to plant new churches, which will multiply and start new churches.
We, Marco and Amy, do not want to just add new churches in the Germany scene. We want a movement of new church plants that will reach out to the larger population. We want to train up new leaders in the Gospel and with the vision to go and share Christ with those who do not know Him personally. We want to plant churches who will look to their neighboring regions and communities and start the send, plant, multiply process over again. Of course, we always pray that Germany’s existing churches will adapt this vision as well.
Specific:
You may know Hameln from the legand of Pied Piper (pictured in our logo). In 1284, the Rattenfänger, his German name, supposedly made a deal with city to rid the town of rats. He played his pipe and lead the rats into the river. When the town refused to pay the man, he came back when everyone was at church, played his flute again, and marched the children out of town. The town never saw their children again. This story is also where the term “pay the piper” comes from.
Flash forward, Hameln is a city of approximately 60,000 residents in northern Germany. Including the population of the surrounding villages, the area would have a population of well over 100,000 people. The old city still displays it´s charm very well, avoiding bombings in both World Wars.
Less than 0.6% of the population attended a church of a Christian demoniation on a Sunday. Sadly, that number is decling every year. A team is now forming with the intentions of starting a new church plant in 2011. Also, there are plans underway to work with and incooperate the existing churches, together reaching the people for or reminding the people of Jesus Christ.
